Our Sprinkler Installation Process
Initial Consultation Request
To get started, submit our online request form or call our office to schedule a consultation. We’ll meet on-site to evaluate your property and begin designing a custom irrigation system tailored to your landscape. Because every system is custom-designed, pricing is not provided over the phone. An on-site visit allows us to properly assess water supply, coverage needs, and system layout.
For new construction homes, a plot plan must be emailed to our office prior to scheduling. If new landscaping is planned, a landscaping plan is also required, prior to scheduling. To ensure all questions can be addressed, we recommend all decision-makers be present. Please allow a minimum of 1.5 hours for your consultation.
Preparing for Your Consultation
During your visit, we may need brief access inside the home to inspect the water main shut-off and interior piping. Your irrigation controller requires a nearby 120V outlet, so having an outlet location identified is helpful.
Pricing cannot be accurately determined by standing in the yard alone. If inclement weather is expected, we may contact you approximately 48 hours in advance to reschedule. We also encourage homeowners to consider which areas truly need irrigation, as not all established plant material requires scheduled watering.
The Consultation Process
Every irrigation system is custom-designed, and developing an accurate layout takes time. We appreciate your patience during the consultation so we can deliver a properly engineered system design.
All installations use Hunter irrigation products. You will receive multiple package options that may vary based on materials, layout, and site conditions. Pricing may be affected by factors such as tree roots, drainage conditions, hardscapes, pools, or private utilities.
Any future plans such as pools, patios, decks, or landscape changes must be disclosed at the time of consultation. We DO NOT accept cash payments for new installations.
Acceptance of Your Installation Proposal
While we encourage on-site decisions, when possible, we understand additional time may be needed. Once you are ready to proceed, notify your sales representative of the package you’ve selected.
A one-third (1/3) deposit is required to secure your installation on our schedule. Deposits may be paid by credit card over the phone, or by mail. Our schedule is reviewed weekly, and your proposal will include an estimated installation window. Exact installation dates are confirmed as your scheduled week approaches; generally, that’s 2 weeks’ out from installation.
Preparing for Installation
Approximately two weeks prior to installation, we will coordinate with 811 to mark public utilities. Any private utilities must be identified and marked by the homeowner before installation begins.
We recommend you are home or nearby on installation day, as technicians may need access to certain areas. Prior to installation, our foreman will flag sprinkler locations for review. You are welcome to ask questions during this process. As installation approaches, you will receive notifications outlining expected arrivals and scheduling updates.
Installation day
On the day of installation, our crew will arrive within the scheduled time window and begin work as outlined in your approved design. While we strive to minimize disruption, irrigation installation is an active process that may involve trenching, drilling, and temporary access to certain areas of your property. A foreman will be on-site to oversee the installation and address any questions that arise.
Water service may be temporarily interrupted, and brief access to your home may be required. After all connections have been made, the entire yard is backfilled and tamped. The grass is raked free of debris, any trash is picked up, and the concrete surfaces are swept off. Once installation is complete, the system will be tested, adjusted, and reviewed to ensure proper operation and coverage.
